Tongan cultural day

Last Friday it was Tongan cultural day. Our Tongan teacher Mrs Tukoi gave the whole school a talk on Tongan culture.

She spoke about life in Tonga and what life was like living there.

Tongans like to sing and dance their traditional dancers and sing and drum as well.

They grow their food taro, being their staple food.  They also eat Horse, Fish, Pigs, and dog and they are cooked in a umu a oven in the ground. The Tongan girls from our class danced traditional Tongan dances they were Serena, Mele, and Margaret. Then it was the boys turn to dance and they were singing and clapping the beat.

I really enjoyed the Tongan girls and Tongan boys dancing and clapping.

I learnt more about Tongan culture last Friday.

Learn, Create, Share

Our topic study today is about muffins and we had to share our topic study with the children they were a bit better the last time we tested them room 7 was a good reader but one girl said to me that she was a good reader but she wasn't she did not read and stop at the full stops she went on reading and then we took pictures.

Missing

A few weeks ago a 3 year old girl wandered from her home village in Siberia. The 3 year old girl was missing for 11 days. Everyone thought that she would have died in the cold from starvation and lack of warm clothes. She would also have died from hypothermia.

However she was lucky because she had her puppy with her who kept her warm at night and safe. She made a mess in the long grass where she was hiding and where she could not be seen. Then the dog came back to the village and led the rescuers to her hiding place in the long grass.

She had survived by eating berries and grass which helped keep her alive for 11 days.

I think her parents would have been very worried and sad I think she would be watched more closely now encase she wanders away again.

The hero in this story is the dog I hope he got a big bone as a reward.  

Alfonso - Demonstration on muffin making

Yesterday we had a chef who had his daughter at our school which is her dad and his name is called Alfonso and he does not have that much English he talks Spanish because he came from Spain his accent is Spanish he does not speak probably. Yesterday he told us how to make muffins he said that you have to use butter flour and eggs. In Spain they like making muffins. He put in flour, with eggs, and butter, with raspberries, blueberries, and walnuts. When it came out it was burnt but it still looked good. It was a good recipe

Today I got to finish my art it was a basketball man with a basketball and I made my own with wire, and cardboard it looks cool.

Introduction:

In the sports you have to respect each player like no fighting. Then you have to do skills before playing any kind of sport or you can just help each other like a team work. When you work as a team you will win and if you don’t you will lose or you will win. When you play and you cheat you have to be honest and you have to tell them the truth because when you cheat you won’t become a winner you will become a loser.

In sports if you want people to join your game you can let them because you're the leader and if they don't do it right you can give them a second chance or you can just ban them from the game but if  you are a kind person you could just let them play. Being honest is like telling the truth if he or she is not doing it right and being honest is like telling them if you don’t like them to play and team means together everyone achieves more.

Over the world heaps of people have been doing a lot of sport and who ever does sport is fit and when you get fit you become healthy and being healthy is a good thing because if you are healthy you will stay fit. The goodest game that makes you fit is  100 meter sprint because it builds your body up and it it fit.

I have to try and learn my 8 and 9 time tables because if I don’t then I wont be as fast as some of the other people in R12. I have to learn and if I do not learn I might stay after play and do my time tables so I have to try my best at learning this is how much I got right or wrong.

Robin Williams

Robin Williams was born in July 21 1951. Robin William died in August 11 he was a famous actor. He won the best movie award for him. Robin Williams played on night of museum and he was acting like a statue but when it came to night he would move if there was  war he would call his horse to come.

Common Wealth games

In 2014 the CommonWealth Games were held in the city of Glasgow in Scotland In the United Kingdom. There were different countries competing from all over the CommonWealth.

New Zealand sent many different teams of athletes representing many different sports.

We managed to win 45 medals which gave us 5th place on the medal table. This was a great result for such a small population. The sport I watched and enjoyed was Boxing and it was New Zealand that won a medal from Boxing.

David Nyika was 18 years old and won the light heavy belt. David Nyika was happy when he won the bonus gold medal.

I enjoyed watching the Common Wealth Games on TV and was proud to be a New Zealander.
